Mine is an ongoing story….my husband and I read a story right after we were married about a couple who had been married for over 50 years. They used to sign everything to each other with SHMILY. No one knew what it meant. After both of them had passed grandchildren were going through their things and came across the clue to those six letters. They found them everywhere, in notes and letters and carved in places…its a small lesson but a powerful one. SHMILY means: See How Much I Love You. Its a physical tangible sign to let the other know you are thinking of the other and also proves that love is actually not a feeling but something you DO. we have left these signs for each other everywhere…in the fog on the bathroom mirror, on a note on the steering wheel, but my favorite was seeing it written on my shampoo bottle in the shower I still have the bottle. <3

This week we got home from our vacation to Hawaii at midnight our time. There was the time change from Hawaii to Alberta, and in the mix daylight savings happened. Bad planning on my part for the hubby that had to get up the next morning at 5am. I felt horrible and new how hard he had worked on the plane with our 11 month old. So while he was still sleeping around 4am I ran downstairs, packed him a lunch and wrote a little letter about how amazing he is, and left it by the door for him to take. He told me later that was what got him through the day, as his body somehow tried to figure out what time of day it was. It’s the little things that help the most, it seems.

We actually went on a date out this week and we haven’t had a date night out since the fall (it is always date night in). Anyway, it was fun to dress up and leave the house with out a kid attached. While we were eating are dessert fondue, yum! We talk not just about lives comings and goings, but about new interests we have. It was really awesome to hear what the Lord is doing in my husband’s life. I wish I could say I already knew, but reality is he has to spend more hours of the day at work than at home.
Quality time is both of our love languages and so, this was defiantly a way we said I love you to each other.

Finals week is the death of me. Today, after a bad test score, a lost final project, AND another paper to write, my husband called me to calm my overwhelmed nerves. He told me that he loves me and that he’s proud of all I’ve done. He’s my constant encouragement. I’m still stressed over school, but knowing he’s proud of my hard work means the world to me.

in addition to saying the actual words all the time… We leave notes for eachother that have a drawing of an “eye”and and then a “heart” and and a letter “U”… in the sock drawer, on the bathroom mirror, on the fridge even on the steering wheel of the car.

Let me count the ways!!
1) Even before we were married on November 11, 2011, Roberto warmed up my car every morning & placed a steaming hot cup of coffee in the cup holder.
2) When gas prices sky-rocketed this year, he suggested we start carpooling to work in the morning. It’s 25 miles out of his way to pick me up and drop me off, but we enjoy the quiet time catching up on those drives.
3) I’ve had to start working Saturdays because money is tight, so Saturday mornings, after laundry & chores, he delivers breakfast to me at work.
4) we still have date nights or romantic picnics once a week. This week I am working a lot of overtime, but I am perfectly at home (and in love) in my pajamas, next to the fireplace, on a blanket with a pizza

I draw little notes for my hubby with an “eye” and a “heart” and a “U”. I leave them in his sock drawer, on his desk, on the bathroom mirror, etc…

You guys have quite the life! This blogpost makes me smile and feel grateful for living on this beautiful island!
